Nothing we can ever do repays what our Mom does for us but that’s ok. We can keep hoping to be as giving.

Because good paintings are ‘life enhancing’ (Berenson)they should be positive, happy things. It follows that if the artist is unhappy, he gives it away with every little stroke of his brush. This is why they say, ‘Paint with gusto.’ Nobody likes niggly–fiddly persons, let alone paintings. So, put in the ‘work’ to give yourself the ‘courage’ to be ‘happy’ when you paint. A TALL ORDER.
thanks Mary Beth I loved sharing that with you one night in Mass. Listening to Bill Collins in person read his poem. It was great hearing it again today. And like me his mother cherished it and it Is probably in a box with her treasures. Happy Mother’s Day you are the one who first gave me my favorite title. MOTHER.
