I fell asleep very early last night because, it turned out I was a bit under the weather. At some point I turned off the light and stayed asleep, mostly, until this morning when I discovered what had been going on! I tell this tale only to explain the absence of the regularly scheduled NaPoWriMo poem last night. Will try to get a bonus one done today. In the meantime, a longer version of the haiku sparked by today’s snowfall.
The train of winter following,
across the yet-brown hills,
turning heads with
a late April snowfall,
flurries that do not stick
but only cloud the view.
Heedless of the muddy paths,
veil flying in the chill
she’s leaving memories of November.
Where is winter going
in such a hurry, so late by May?
