NaPoWriMo 2019 – Day Fourteen

Black cat slithering
through the field
sinuous around each
clump and weed,
a void against the
grey-tan grasses
abandoned by winter.
Above, sky showing ribs.
Below, all paths and trace
concealed,
obliterated.

NaPoWriMo 2019 – Day Thirteen

I don’t know why we’re alive
or how we stay alive
beyond the plumbing
and electrical explanations
of how the living part works:
blood and fluids flow,
electrical impulses travel,
the stone my toe meets
makes an impact between my ears.
That’s not the whole of it
but more the minimum:
energy imbibed and spent,
galaxies of cells doing things
we’re unable to replicate
in full or otherwise
and yet we try.
We investigate and study and
often, against all odds,
figure it out, or the next bit.
And even though our ability
to scrape up a new life
is that most instinctive,
we learn to cling to that life
to cherish and swaddle it.
But there’s more still,
our ability to create
something new: a story
that inspires or horrifies;
a view, beauty never seen;
a theory, which someone else will
spend a lifetime and prove
surprising even themselves;
a slice of magic – how it all works.

NaPoWriMo 2019 – Day Twelve

Angry fearful man
I did not make you so
and yet you endeavor
to elicit some apology
or care from me while
showing me how tough
and unassailable you are
angry and fearful man.
I tend the item
you regretfully
need my help with.
I dream of the
orange in my bag
waiting for lunch.
The orange last night
was warm and so juicy
sweet and fragrant
as though condensing
all previous oranges
making those not
yet conceived in blossom
pale paper versions.
The orange in my bag
also unrefrigerated
waits until we are done
angry fearful man
and my thoughts turn to
think how it will
flavor the air around me
as I shake off the
labors of this morning.

NaPoWriMo 2019 – Day 11

Seemed like something worth from the news. I’ve been taking a break from my duties as twitter/news aggregator, but this was great on a whole new order.

How can something be revealed
that cannot be seen, something
seen only from the corner
of a skeptical eye, guessed at?
To pull back the curtain
with gravitas so great
takes massive faith
or machine unimagined
until yesterday,
patiently built with care,
the hand god-like bending
purpose toward the end
where all is magic
except for those who believe.

Today’s Paint Outings

I took a few side roads today and saw a lot of interesting things and a lot of wildlife!

This afternoon the clouds were quite interesting so I did get a couple paintings done.

For some more photos:
