Shouldn’t this be an Olympic Sport?

Don’t ask why we were discussing wellies. Red wellies at that. But I went and looked up wellie tossing and found I had another haiku.

Serious business.
Toss your green smooth wellie far:
Win and grasp glory.

The inspector #haiku

The Inspector

Well there you go:

He’s no interest
in singeing his small fingers
on the many seams.

He inspects the seams
checks the iron’s chrome mirror
and measures the heat.

He comes close enough
to make me set iron down
but offers no help.

Not afraid of the heat.

If I was a rich (wo)man.. yadadeedadeeda…

Well if I ever win the lottery, I might be convinced to forego the racing green MG IF I may hire the services of someone to iron.

Simple needs and wants folks.

Community takes work

Ran across this older blog post by Matt Mullenweg about sure ways you can easily kill off community (interactions, discussion, you name it) on your web site. Right on the money and still all true.

Petaflopping

I read about the new Sequoia supercomputer last night and wandered over to wikipedia wondering how to pronounce and understand the concept of petaflops, so here’s my summation:

Sixteen quadrillion
floating-point operations
per second. That’s fast.

(really really fast and faster than before by quite a bit)
