Sunday evening

I did this and that. Cooked two different things. Ate an apple, sweet and crisp. Tossed an idea out into the world to see what would happen to it. Thought about a design. Listened to my neighbors making noises via trumpet, piano and who knows what?

Now my lunch is packed, the food is put away. what to do now?

Hardly know what to do with myself

The labors and loves of the germanic gods are done so there’s not much to do tonight. That’s good because, frankly, I’m pooped! I think the best bet for tonight is to get into a nice beverage of some kind, a nice comfy bed and maybe a little bit of a read until sleep!

I’m feeling a little guilty because after all my excitement about the Modern Poetry course, it just isn’t grabbing me. I’m considering just doing the reading and feeling guilt-free about the rest. Seems like there must be a sweet spot between the extremes of being too remote and being too hyper/over the top – for teachers of online courses. Not that our SciFi teacher is remote or hyper. He’s pretty close to that sweet spot. He gave us a nice pep talk this week about how being right isn’t the mot important thing about interpreting what you read.

I downloaded this video for future reference and here’s what I jotted down from the end of Dr. Rabkin’s talk:

…you’re responding to how the power is projected in the plot and in so doing you’re cooperating with that to give the story a more nuanced patterned reading. Are those readings right or wrong? Well, I have my own views on that, but what’s important is not what I think, or what you think. What’s important, is in a way, at first what we think but ultimately because we make up things, we make up fantastic things…we make up fantasies. And because we make up these fantasies, what’s most important is how we think. And you’re doing a wonderful wonderful demonstration of how fertile and fantastic is the human mind.

Guess I better go. I have to review Bradbury and come up with something to write about for the Fantasy/Sci Fi class.

clouds and sky #haiku

what I learned was this:
the clouds swim not in the sky
but follow its path.

the clouds and the sky
dancing past my window;
serene, entangled

overhead they’re swinging;
at the horizon, a march:
the clouds and the sky

#napowrimo rummaging

Someone today was reading through my NaPoWriMo posts. I picked out a few of the ones they’d looked at and hmmm… I enjoyed them on re-read. Hope they did too. Recently I re-read part of the gnomic saga and huh – I really liked them! Might be time to do a run-through edit on them.

While in the grateful mood…

I’d also like to thank FedEx for leaving off a more than healthy supply of stick on waybill envelopes and printable labels for me to use for future shipments. This means I can easily print out and stick on my shipping labels and provide return labels if needed.

I placed my order for these supplies the other day when I was on the fedex site arranging for a quilt to be shipped. I generated the shipping info, arranged pick up the next day at work (just adding it to the pile of normal shipping there), printed out the label and stuck it on the box. Then I ordered a bunch of stuff because I’d basically used everything I had handy. They dropped it off at my house yesterday.

And what did it cost for this huge supply of stuff? Zero dollars, friends. Zero dollars. Can’t beat that with a a stick. Thank you fed ex for making my life shipping stuff easy.

Oh, and I can track my shipments on my iPhone or computer and when arranging the shipping I can include the email of the recipient so they can be notified of tracking info and updates. Easy peasy.
