Sorting it all out

I’m just a bit over seven hundred gathered-up haiku. For those who are wondering, that doesn’t include the epic saga. It’s been an interesting trip down the past couple years of throwing haiku into a pile!

On a geekier note, I can’t believe there’s not some way to easily edit a choice field in Bento. Three category fields, if I add a new category to one I have to remember to add it to the others as well. (yeah yeah yeah I should have written all that out before I started… I know.)

Guess the time has come…

I’ve been thinking of changing all my haiku over to an SQL database for use in a website. Since I’m looking to rummage through them and categorize them, this might be a good time to put them into that kind of shape.

Since I do all my writing in BBEdit (because it doesn’t suck), what I’ll probably do is combine the contents of the monthly haiku files and then do some search and replacing to make single returns into tabs and multiple returns into single returns and that will go nicely into either a database or spreadsheet. Easy. Just some fiddling usually to “massage” everything into shape.

There’s a good reason for picking a way to do things and doing it consistently on the computer: makes it easier to get the computer to change things into something different!

Day five of seven #haiku

my toes, very cold
my tummy pizza happy
brain ipa soothed.

I have many squares
all ready, cut and sorted
they are my pixels.

I play with fabric
I rearrange words on screen
to see what happens.

The joy of color
doesn’t ring until it chimes,
pushing the other.

so many angry:

New Reads!

Had a nice pizza (and for me, an IPA) with Naomi, Sue, and Pat at Kay’s on Burden Lake and the place was PACKED and hopping. Naomi hands me a little cloth bag with this inside:

New Reads!

And she confesses that she’s been dangling some über quotes in front of me to lure me into some of her favorite reads. Now that’s some serious book-dealing. And I totally rose to the bait. These are going to the top of the stack. Thanks Naomi!
