Wrung out after #haiku

Who could have known that
We’ve binders full of women
Is that where they’ve gone?

After the loud debate
I stepped into the cold night
still, with many stars.

Halfway through haiku
Hundreds more to read again
flicking into piles

Once I dreamed of bears
holding my breath in my dreams
shape-shifting myself.

in the cold night sky
a large planet sits proudly
shading sister stars.

Tips for #nanowrimo

Go forward, do not go back. Tape over the backspace key for the entire month. Do not erase anything. Do not revise anything. Do not start again. During the month of November suspend all critical judgments.

Go here for more tips. (Last year I accidently found out about NaNoWriMo on November first, remember? BBEdit popped up to say “you have an update, download now?” and while that was going I rummaged around on the NaNoWriMo site and started typing… This year I’ve been enjoying the pre-November pep-talks.)

From the Quote Box, with typically perfect timing!

Look, I really don’t want to wax philosophic, but I will say that if you’re alive, you got to flap your arms and legs, you got to jump around a lot, you got to make a lot of noise, because life is the very opposite of death. And therefore, as I see it, if you’re quiet, you’re not living. You’ve got to be noisy, or at least your thoughts should be noisy and colorful and lively. – Mel Brooks
