Messing around

Looking forward to a quieter evening at home. Hope to re-read my NaNoWriMo piece in prep for getting ready for November 1st. Too bad the haiku slam was cancelled – the weather and all would have been permitting but I understand. Next time!

The real purpose for this post is to try out a new wordpress plugin which promises to post to both twitter and facebook when I post here. The last thing I tried worked but it was a little over-involved.

One Simply Does Not

robocall people the day after a hurricane and lead with “This is a breaking news update…”

Sorry (you shall not get any free advertising from me, good or bad) you’re off my list altogether. Oh wait, turns out this candidate wasted his robo-calling dime calling me, someone very far away from his district. Oops did I say “he” ok it was a he, running for the 110th assembly district, announcing that he was endorsed by the Times Useless. Good going fella, for proving that there are all kinds of stupidity out there.

Thank you WordPress

it seems like my hosting company is knee deep in water or something.(I mean this in the most concerned and serious sort of way. MANY servers and server farms are located in the NYC/NJ area and no doubt there are a lot of geeky guys doing without sleep tonight wondering what’s going on with their servers.) Out for awhile, now up again, but for how long. While I do try to remember to do backups from time to time, I rely on them to have redundancy. Tonight this seems like a bad plan. As soon as I saw my site was back up and running I came in and began an FTP download of the main folder which has everything in it.

I was trying to remember how to log into the database itself where all the actual content and structure of the wordpress stuff lives. Oh wait – WordPress itself gives you a way to export that as an XML file that you can use to move your stuff. Done and done.

ZOMG. let’s see how far this gets.

Who has seen the wind?

We’re seeing a lot of wind-related stuff today. Right now, sitting here at the window, there’s nothing to see and everything to hear: a constant roaring rush going through the trees and down the street.

Who Has Seen the Wind?

Who has seen the wind?
Neither I nor you:
But when the leaves hang trembling,
The wind is passing through.

Who has seen the wind?
Neither you nor I:
But when the trees bow down their heads,
The wind is passing by.
