Rallying for the cause #nanowrimo #haiku

I’ve been sneaking in a few messages urging people to throw a few bucks to help out the folks that put on NaNoWriMo and other writing events.

They posted a to-do list for this last week of NaNoWriMo:

@NaNoWriMo: Wrimo to-do list: 1. Write more words. 2. Back up your novel. 3. Repeat 1 & 2. 4. Validate. 5. Celebrate! 6. Donate. store.lettersandlight.org/donations

I tweaked it a little:

@NaNoWriMo Or: 1) Write words. 2) Donate, get good karma & more words. 3) Back up. 4) Repeat 1, 2 & 3. 5) validate. 6) Celebrate!

and got this reply

jam_eater_blues: @mbquilts I feel like you could make some kind of cool poem out of that. like, create, caffeinate, conversate, validate, celebrate!

I could work with that: (with an un-related bonus)

create, caffeinate
create more and validate.
celebrate! donate!

all the words: plot and
character and description
then: validation.

journals of the past… web presence of today?

In such a fast-paced, constantly plugged-in society, are we losing the ability to write about our lives in an honest, heartfelt way — or even archive them at all? How important is it to do so, and what is the best way to go about it when there are so many options and so little time?

Interesting debate (a collection of opinion pieces) on the topic of blogging and journalling.

Long-time readers know I consider my blog to be the closest thing I’ve ever had to a diary. It’s not as daily as I like although lately I’m doing more than I have in the past. The past couple weeks, time and the second time attempt at NaNoWriMo has slowed the rate of my posts. But I’m still out here. And if I have to choose between posting a link to facebook or putting it here, the choice is the same: is it just an interesting, moment of news sort of link (facebook/twitter material) or does it fit with what I hope is a more long term string of writing in the blog.

Having said that, I don’t write in a deeply personal way here because this is a very public space. If I needed to vent to a page, I would probably do so within the confines of my computer but using very blog-esque software. It’s convenient and easy and links it all together like the stitching in a notebook and the walls of a bookshelf.

Push Day Number One #NaNoWriMo

I did have to fiddle around a bit looking for a suitable place to hold a big gathering of faeries, but I didn’t have to come up with a lot of new names, today. That meant a lot of words flew onto the screen during the day.

I’m saving and backing up my file and I’m going to go read a bit and have a bit of port to reward myself for hitting 5050 words today! Woot! Still quite a bit behind but let’s see how close I can get by the 30th.

day 25

Plas Newydd – The things you look up…

In January 2010, the grounds became the first part of North Wales to be included in Google Street View, thanks to a scheme to include National Trust properties by using the Google Trike where vehicular access is limited.[1]

via Plas Newydd – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Looking for a good place in Ynys Môn (aka Anglesey) for a big group of faeries to party hearty…

This isn’t really it, but the last paragraph cracked me up.

Oh the choices… #nanowrimo

Let’s see… my choices again?

Type in fairly cool room in peace and quiet but bundled up like no tomorrow.

-OR-

Attempt to write downstairs closer to the furnace with an endless stream of cats butting me, the laptop, the charger…

Maybe it’s time for dinner.
