Sometimes you need a good dance video

to cheer up the evening:

I’ve been browsing some morris dance videos. This one I like a lot. And these guys are probably one of the best teams out there – Manley Morris.

And then there’s this one:

and this (get to around 3:00 and be rewarded for your attention)

Here’s to the Crazy Ones

Here’s to the Nick V’s of the world who give me hope that the world will turn out all right. They’re smart and creative and nice. When my old heart sees them going out into the next part of their lives I am a little weepy because I know their time is ahead of them, more of it than I might know. Doesn’t let me off the hook to push on in the craziness dept. Not at all. We need to keep pushing back against the enemies of craziness.

Gives me a great feeling though to see the next gen starting out – I have faith in them and wish them all the best. Go get ’em, Nick V.

Here’s to the Crazy Ones.

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes.

The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.

About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward.

Maybe they have to be crazy.

How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?

We make tools for these kinds of people.

While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Preparing for NaPoWriMo 2013?

After brushing up against sonnets in our chats about Dickinson and Frost, I’m tempted to stretch my wings a bit for NaPoWriMo and consider the sonnet form. It’s been a long time since I rhymed anything which would be a challenge all on its own.

Sonnets: fourteen lines,
iambic pentameter
and a rhyming scheme.

Shakespearean or
Petrarchan, Spenserian
or a word sonnet.
