The end of National Haiku Day

The end of haiku
for the day, just for the day
many to follow.

I just looked at the haiku file for today and it looks like I wrote twenty-four haiku in the past twenty-four hours. Huh. I couldn’t have planned that.

I did sleep, honest!

They certainly ranged in topic and there are a few in there that make me smile. All in all, a good day.

Haiku – about poems in your pocket

in your pocket

poems in your pocket
will I be brave and offer
it’s the day for it!

what poem will you choose?
i offer frost or sandburg.
take it: poetry.

Because it turns out that tomorrow is Poem in Your Pocket Day. Go forth and share!

angry disenfranchised haiku

Shame on you, Senate
for disregarding duty
to favor lobbies.

You were elected
to represent your home folk
not the N.R.A.

The president, terse,
spits out the reality:
cash outweighs voters.

We’re disenfranchised.
we demand your attention:
Do the right thing now!
