Poetic License

was challenged by Anna on FB to write re losing one’s poetic license. I’m no shel silverstein, but here are some obligatory haiku:

Re: My renewal,
revoked poetic license;
please reinstate it.

Notice came today:
revoked poetic license.
I start to write prose.

If I can’t write poems
lacking poetic license,
I will start painting.

Envelope in mail:
past due, poetic license
renew now and save!

Seen Inside the Fiat

And in other, unrelated news, I thought I was going to be showing you some über spider but it turned out to be something equally scary in the passenger side door pocket. And today when I couldn’t find it… even scarier…

World Ocean Day

I got a message from Holly

RT @readingrainbow It’s #WorldOceansDay, let’s get creative–Tweet a haiku about the ocean!

OK, thanks! I needed that. How about these as a start?

Afloat in ocean
water sloshing in my ears
I’m primordial.

Lying on the sand
red sun where my eyes should be
ocean at my feet.

to swallow ocean
drink the primordial brine
knocking back waves.

Something to set your mind on fire

Darn that Sandy for luring me into her blog with quotes and funny squirrels and cool videos and then she lights my brain on fire with all sorts of interesting and informative art things.

Like this wood cut “THE MOON” 35.5″ x 30.5″ Woodcut Print on White BFK Paper
Paul Roden + Valerie Lueth, 2012.

Oh my goodness. I love woodcuts anyway but this one really does it for me. Color, intricate, just everything. So go see how this was made and printed and then enjoy the other pieces on their site.
