Good mail day!

First off new books: Humans of New York and a new translation of the Mabinogi. I didn’t think the Humans of New York book was released til tomorrow so it seemed extra special to get it today, no matter what the official date is.

HONY

And then emails from Fed Ex and Mom to say that my quilt Solveig has returned from its long travels. It had last gone to France. I allowed to the Quilt National folks that next time I’d be glad to go and pick it up in France, in person!

Return from QN

Especially impressed with how they keep all your original, obsessive packaging materials and re-package it for return in just the way you sent it to them, down to the multiple wraps and ripped strips of fabric used to tie each layer… They must think I’m a total nut job but I do appreciate the care they take with the quilts.

It’s always interesting to me when the quilt comes home after a long tour and you haven’t seen it in awhile. My impression of it coming out was – wow – lighter than I remember and wow – holy crap I really quilted the hell out of it. (I blame Naomi for that LOL)

Finally, I replaced my wireless router last night and when I went to pick up my order after work a co-worker in Back of House had made it extra-special-good and we all enjoyed the experience and now I have not just any airport extreme but a stinkin airport extreme. Made me smile.

Sunday

Been off a couple days; having dinner en famille later; coleslaw* a la Peter Reinhart is doing its thing in the frig as we speak.

Was ridiculously happy to discover that yesterday’s writing was a little over 2000 words. Guess my push to finish this part of the story is a good warm up for November’s daily quota.

Off now to get some laundry going, some stuff put away and in awhile a few stirs for the coleslaw.

* I know I have waxed poetic in the past but this is so completely delicious that it will change your mind about coleslaw forever. Cabbage, mayonnaise, half an onion, a little sugar, a little vinegar, a healthy bit of black pepper. That is all it takes and you can eat it with complete happiness. Put it alongside bbq and watch the happiness multiply.

stocking up for NaNoWriMo

Provisions

Oddly, much like packing up for a quilt get away trip… or for a stay-at-home blizzard warning…

Woot, the big 150!

150K that is!

The counter ticked over when I was mid re-union. I don’t think that means anything in particular other than a big pile o’words. (Sort of a bonus November’s worth!)

Why you should do…

NaNoWriMo (or whatever else it is that you wish you could do)

A little bit of history about NaNoWriMo, a little bit about Chris Baty, and a little bit about how NaNoWriMo works to help people get it done.
