Georgia O’Keeffe said: “Nothing is less real than realism. Details are confusing. It is only by selection, by elimination, by emphasis, that we get at the real meaning of things.”

Great Day at TedXAlbany

#TEDxAlbany not quite live blogging report

Just finishing lunch break at TEDxAlbany, having heard a fast-moving stream of speakers. Jotted down notes about where folks can find volunteer connections, quite a number of notes aobut the idea of how to increase trust as a way of setting and achieving goals, and other good things. Attentive and supportive audience that seems to be madly tweeting and media-ing inbetween talks.

These talks will be available in awhile online so I’ll add links as they become available. More thoughts, especially about the People/Profits/Planet/trust/trust/trust thing in the near future. That really struck a nerve.

While we were eating lunch, there were a few TED talks playing on the big screen and one that popped up was Amanda Palmer’s which made me smile a bit.

Also been enjoying an ongoing conversation with my seat neighbor about NaNoWriMo, the creative process, National Album recording month (will look up more about this – it’s in February) and such things.

And now for something completely different

Wrote a hair over 1000 words at tonight’s library write in so I’m feeling pretty good about it all. Have the protagonist working on a little surprise and soon have to get to the meat of it all.

But for now, might just climb into bed with a nice cuppa.

Properly, we should read for power. Man reading should be man intensely alive. The book should be a ball of light in one’s hand. โ€“ Ezra Pound

On the NaNoWriMo front, I’ve run out of the bits of story I knew about but which needed some reworking and reweaving to make them fit together properly which means that from here on out the characters had better know what they’re doing because I sure don’t. Sounds scary but tonight I crossed the 25,000 word mark which is a nice cushion against days or nights that might move a little slower.

I might have stooped to something pretty low tonight in my bit of new story telling but I promise, it will be ok…

Doggedness depends on emotional traits – enthusiasm and persistence in the face of setbacks – above all else. โ€“ Daniel Goleman
