Yup, in the mailbox. My mailbox. In my mailbox.

dorks? us?

At work, I notice a copy of The Silmarillion sitting on a table.

I ask aloud, “who is reading this copy of Silmarillion?”

A young man admits to this, a little sheepishly. He also admits that he just finished The Hobbit and this was his next step.

“How’s it going?” I ask.

He says he’s just starting it but that it’s pretty dense. I allow as it’s downright biblical in some parts and he laughs when I tell him I read parts of it aloud to the cats in order to get through the denser parts. I make encouraging noises. Totally worth it.

He says, “I’m pretty much a dork.”

He pauses.

“I bought a sword.”

You go, young man, you go!

Truth, spoken and noted

There are so many people that use ‘following your dreams’ as an excuse to not work when in reality, following your dreams, successfully, is nothing but work. — Brandon Stanton, Humans of New York

Washed and Ironed

For now I’ll think I’ll rest on it. Not literally. C’mon. I just ironed all this.
