piling up the new year thoughts

RT Fiona Ritchie: …Make Rabbie Burns proud: No zzzzzs in Auld Lang Syne. Sing out!!

Yes folks, get it right and the link’s there in case you need some coaching on what that means!

when the new year comes •
we’ll take a cup of kindness •
and drink to our hopes.

Early New Year’s Evening

while starting dinner I took care of a little personal New Year’s tradition. Since I’m working the day job tomorrow I cleaned out the spice cabinet tonight and took stock (need Fines Herbs, need tarragon, how did I end up with so much oregano?) and put it all back. Out with the old bay leaves! In with the new!

and here’s the quote that popped up in the quote box while I was doing this:

The first principle of ethical power is Purpose… By purpose, I don’t mean your objective or intention-something toward which you are always striving. Purpose is something bigger. It is the picture you have of yourself-the kind of person you want to be or the kind of life you want to lead. — Kenneth Blanchard

New Year’s Eve Haiku

woke up this morning
wondering if I’d missed it
and slept through new years

new year’s eve is long
the afternoon stretching out
to soften the blow

sunny afternoon
ending cloudy December
bright new year’s eve day

Had lunch with Mom today and enjoyed our visit. Stopped at pellegrino’s and confirmed what I suspected: the bright green olives we all liked were fresh olives! Stopped at the grocery store to get some treats for tonight and tomorrow. Sent in a bit of my NaNoWriMo story for a critique round our group is starting (saved and sent before I could change my mind or look again.)

Now I’m home and can get ready for the year to turn. I feel like I gained a whole year in a way because this morning before I opened my eyes I had a thought that I’d slept through New Year’s Eve and missed the whole thing. So today was all a bonus!

Why You No Feed Me?

There’s no real discussion with Miz Pritty…

For the record, she did not offer to help me carry in the two bags of sunflower seeds and she followed me around while I filled all the feeders and she had already had a second breakfast of chicken feed and whatever sunflower seeds came her way… and she pecked at my zipper pull.
