A critique arrived from our NaNoWriMo group so I took advantage of the unexpected afternoon to read it and make notes. Then I put together my next bit of story and sent it off for its own critiquing.
Now it’s probably time to go out in what’s left of the light for a quick shovel. It really came down this afternoon. If I had gone to work I would have had a hard time getting home methinks.
…and another snowday.
I looked out this morning on a snowy land where it was still snowing and still in need of plowing and said – let me be smarter than last week (isn’t that what we all aspire to?) – let me not start out super early trying to get to work.
So I called in without the treacherous attempt to drive to work.
Had coffee and breakfast and now I’m about to move snow. And in an effort to be even smarter I’ll try not to kill my arm again. Wish me luck.
Tonight I needed broccoli and something a little spicy and maybe leftovers for tomorrow… so that means I got to open a fortune cookie on the way home:

After a hearty breakfast, I got in the car and drove to Colonie Center and shopped until I had three big bags of clothes. It included all kinds of shirts and shorts and for goodness sake – a freaking swimsuit. I got a coffee and drove to Mom’s. We looked at all this loot, had an early dinner and then I went to Tar-Jay where I left with another bag of stuff.
Oh, and before I left Colonie Center, I bought this as a reward for actually going in and buying things that I need (and for sort of having a plan about the whole thing.) Anyway, this. And the other thing is the quality assurance sticker that was in the inner envelope of it along with the history bit. I threw away the history bit and kept the sticker.
Only by acceptance of the past, can you alter it.
