Drawings of Cats – for Watercolor Class

Not very watercolorish – yet! Cat drawings which will soon become cat paintings. Click the photo below for Flickr album of class work.

There were no live cats visible at all in fact but they all returned the moment I got up to head off for the scanner… go figure. Maybe they figured I couldn’t afford their modeling fees.

Priorities

I am in favor of people being able to use whatever bathroom suits them. Totally in favor.

This morning as I read and listened to the White House memo to schools telling them this is something all schools should do, and the debates about the White House sending such a directive I had a thought:

Hey, wouldn’t it be great if we put as much passion and effort into improving education in schools and making sure all those kids were well fed and lived in secure safe places?

In fact, if we had better schools and safer communities we probably wouldn’t be arguing over whether a tiny portion of our population should use this bathroom or that one. We’d be respectful and do the right thing.  Because we’d want them to feel safe and respected where they are, all the time, too.

Happiness

Sometimes it’s what you do when you’re on your own time that makes it all worthwhile. And it’s important that most of your day be your time, even if it’s in your head. If you work for someone else, that’s your time too – choose to do that and do it well because it supports you, not because it’s the most important thing.

And as it’s been said before – happiness comes from within:

Experimentation

This is the first layer of the second piece, but I’m going to let it dry all the way before trying anything else. These are aimed at seeing what water and paint will do on paper.
