Day Three of NaNoWriMo Focus

Hit the minimum word count third day in a row and still have a long way to go to catch up but more importantly – MY MAINS GOT MARRIED!!! Phew, felt like it would never happen. Had a nice chat with Lizette from the Sunday night NaNoWriMo group and talked about the mushy-not-sure-what-happens-here situation which was helpful. Thanks Lizette!

Progress at last

The time has come for the big wedding. (Yes there is a gap just ahead of that but I’m working on it!)

That NaNoWriMo thing…

I’ve become that person, regularly pasting my words into the validator to spur me on to new words. My goal at the moment to get the words/day needed to “win” down to a believable number. I blame the world series and my uncertainty of what it will take to win over my main’s mother from whatever the heck her problem is. I gave myself a stern talking to this morning on the way to work – you might not know what’s about to happen but you know the characters probably do. So let them figure it out and stop worrying. After that, I had a couple thoughts about (not how to fix everyone’s problems) several very nice things that could happen next and said “self – you should start writing that’. I made a couple very short notes on PAPER – and that’s what I’m writing tonight. #atstarbucks. #letsdothisthing

Stories

Prose fiction is something you build up from twenty-six letters and a handful of punctuation marks, and you, and you alone, using your imagination, create a world, and people it and look out through other eyes. You get to feel things, visit places and worlds you would never otherwise know. You learn that everyone else out there is a me, as well. You’re being someone else, and when you return to your own world, you’re going to be slightly changed. — Neil Gaiman

Word Count Games

One of the things I love about NaNoWriMo is word counting. Yes it is scary when you fall behind but I find that counting the words whenever I stop for a pause or thinking or staring off into space is a great motivator. Love to see those words stack up!

Looking at it this way, you can see that even though I had a slow start (darn world series – this november baseball thing has to stop!) it’s more than possible to catch up, in fact it even adjusts the daily goal I’d need to hit to get to the goal of 50K by November 30. No excuses.
