Busy weekend

Let us go forth, the tellers of tales, and seize whatever prey the heart longs for, and have no fear. Everything exists, everything is true, and the earth is only a little dust under our feet. — W.B. Yeats

Sounds like a good thing for just before a tale in two realms.

Whirlwind couple few days.

Saturday was my self-inflicted night of non-mandatory-fun: I went to see the Albany Symphony at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall.

After I clocked out of work, I changed into my fancier attire. This was totally worth the stunned looks of some of my coworkers. Very very funny. As I said to the manager “I clean up good.”

The concert was excellent. Three shorter pieces in the first half: a newly commissioned piece “violent, violent sea”; a john Williams piece commissioned in honor of the Boston Symphony’s retiring harpist who was in Troy to play it; and a Stravinsky piece. The could have left the latter at home. The first two were good- although I expected something more crashing and booming from violent violent sea. I wondered if I’d misheard what should have been violet, violet sea.

Beethoven’s 7th was wonderful. The conductor had explained that he went with beethoven’s time direction which made parts of it faster than most recordings.

Tonight it was work-related meeting. Not half as much fun.

This two nights of outings has put me behind in my nanowrimo stuff though so I need to catch up.
