Beethoven’s 7th, The Allegretto

This story made me pull over on December 24, 2003 so I could listen fully. I wrote Robert Siegel and he was nice enough to write back, a very personal and personable response, musing about Beethoven and suggesting another favorite of his that I might listen to.

I think of that night and how this thirteen minutes opened up a new world to me and from time to time I look up the archived radio show and do it all again.

I loved listening to this. Thank you.

“Oh bliss! Bliss and heaven! Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh. It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now.” ~Anthony Burgess…. Alex’s thoughts on listening to Ludwig Van’s 9th in A Clockwork Orange.
