Strangely, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.napowrimo.net\/2011\/04\/day-26\/\" target=\"_blank\">NaPoWriMo<\/a> asks us to write Spam Poetry based on all those spam emails.  Regular readers will remember that <a href=\"http:\/\/queenofallmydomains.com\/quiltr\/?p=2970\" target=\"_blank\">I riffed a bit on a bit of blog comment spam<\/a> so I hope that will count a bit in that department.<\/p>\n<p>I started this at lunch and worked on it a bit more when I finally got home from work.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I Sit Up In Bed At The Open Window<\/p>\n<p>The slightest breeze sounds<br \/>\nyet where moves the air and trees?<br \/>\nBut for the whisper, the birch is still.<\/p>\n<p>Down the road, the peepers<br \/>\ncalling calling calling<br \/>\nfilling their pool with life.<\/p>\n<p>In the birch a bird stirs<br \/>\njust a ruffle of feathers<br \/>\nthe foot shuffle, blinking, then sleep again.<\/p>\n<p>That curious sound: pad pad pad<br \/>\nA cat comes up the steps;<br \/>\ndetermined, stealthy. Silence. Up on bed.<\/p>\n<p>The stars shine behind<br \/>\nthe birch&#8217;s smallest branches<br \/>\nthe dark Way making the leaves gleam<\/p>\n<p>The rumble of a car<br \/>\npulling in late, down the road.<br \/>\nThen just my breath.<\/p>\n<p>The workroom clock ticks.<br \/>\nThe late night train calls out.<br \/>\na dog barks twice and once.<\/p>\n<p>This perfect late Spring night<br \/>\nbalanced relaxed waiting<br \/>\nThe night dissolves into the night.<\/p>\n<p>Mary Beth Frezon 26 April 2011<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s poem came from the prompt at Not Without Poetry.
