Today’s weather turned at last to spring’s warmth
\nbut I’d work to do inside the cool house.
\nI sewed pieces of fabric together
\nand thought: if I’d become a poet
\nI could have sat outside in the sunshine
\nwith my moleskine and pencil and pen
\ntipping my head back so my face turns pink
\nand my mind is dazzled with light and words.
\nInstead I joined small triangles in strips
\nmaking the large flat fabric that I buy,
\nwash, slice into strips and pieces, and sew,
\nmaking it all one big flat thing again.
\nSpring comes every year about this time
\nbut it can’t make me any crazier.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
