My little and oldest cat Deirdre, ruler of the crew
\nyour purr so sweet, you’re always watching,
\nattentive, checking on me over and again
\nhere you are, head butting my laptop.
\nhere you are, trying to walk behind my head.
\nwhat say you lay down here next to me and let me work
\nor I can give you a preventative hug.
\nSorry I can’t be still enough to let you snooze
\nyou’re tired from inspecting my coat, my bag,
\nmy half-filled cup of tea, my fingers
\nfollowing me down the stairs to check the food bowls
\nand back up to see that I refill the water dish.
\nToo many pets and you move away with a look
\nbut a moment later you’re back to give a kiss
\nI stroke your head and get batted in return.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
